Welcome to Richmond, VA!  Dr. Christa Riley and Dr. John Butterworth IV and the VCU Health Department of Anesthesiology cordially invite you to join us for the 2019 Annual Spring Meeting of the Anesthesia History Association.  Our meeting will be held April 25-27, 2019 at the Hilton Richmond Downtown and will include an introduction to Richmond’s rich history.

The Hilton Richmond Downtown is located in the original building of the Miller and Rhoads flagship department store.  Many of the features of the original department store were maintained including floor to ceiling windows in most of the rooms. 

A block of rooms has been reserved for the event at the rate of $159 per night until March 25, 2019.  A few rooms have been held a day before and a day after the meeting for those who would like to extend their visit to Richmond.  Parking is valet only and is $18 per day.  There is a free shuttle from the hotel to any location within a 2-mile radius which will get you to many places of interest in Richmond.

Thursday – April 25, 2019

Meeting Registration 1-3:30 PM

Virginia Museum of History & Culture 4-10 PM (transportation included)

Guided tour of museum followed by reception in the Cabell Gallery.  Dinner and Lecture in the Halsey Lecture Hall.

Friday – April 26, 2019

Abstract Presentations in Morning and Afternoon. Patrick Sim Memorial Lecture.

Hilton Richmond Downtown 6-10 PM

Reception 5:30-6:30 PM with Dinner 7-8 PM

Keynote Speaker 8 PM

Saturday – April 27, 2019

Abstract Presentations in Morning

Closing Remarks 11 AM

St. John’s Church 1-3 PM (lunch & transportation included)

We will travel to St. John’s Church where we will enjoy a private re-enactment of Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech that he gave to the Second Virginia Revolutionary Convention meeting on March 23, 1775.

Chimborazo Medical Museum and Cemetery Tour 3-7 PM (transportation included)
